I asked Isaac where it might be. "Did you throw it away?" I asked. I checked the garbage. He didn't answer.
Today is our recycling day, and last night like clockwork he put our recyclables in the back of the van. "Did you put it in recycling?" Again, no answer.
It was raining hard when I put on my shoes and walked out to the garage wearing the blue robe I bought when I was pregnant with Henry. For reference, he's 15 years old. I was out there with my crazy hair and the garage door and van open, sorting through plastics. Fortunately it didn't take long to find it. The mail carrier walked past wearing his rain gear, but he pretended he didn't see me in my old blue robe, happily clutching my peptides container.
Isaac didn't act surprised when I came inside. He just found my coffee cup, put a scoop in, and pretended like nothing had happened.
