The podcast, Autism in the Wild, was created by my tech-savvy husband, Chris, and is co-hosted by our son, Noah. Henry has been involved in creating the artwork, choosing fonts, and editing recordings.
I guess you could say it's a family affair, although Isaac and I are not directly involved. I agreed to be interviewed for an upcoming episode. We'll see how that goes. They've promised me they can edit.
As I told my husband, "I'm glad you spearheaded this project. It would have taken me three years to get a podcast up and running." True.
I'm proud of these guys for jumping into the podcast world. Chris is great at mobilizing the troops. (How does he do this? I can barely get the kids to do consistent household chores.) I was a little surprised Noah wanted to be a podcast co-host because in recent years he has not wanted me to write much about him and his autism. I understand completely and respect his privacy.
He has more control over what he shares in his own words in a podcast. The first two episodes are insightful interviews with 17-year-old Noah about autism, being on the spectrum, living with a twin brother who has autism, etc.
As with anything, there is a learning curve. Chris bought a big fancy microphone, and they are trying to play around with it to determine how it works best. Anyone who really knows me knows I'm clueless.
