It's the last day of summer vacation. Isaac's country music is streaming non-stop and he's yelling out the window at Noah to wear jeans. Noah is outside stretching his legs, trying to get away from it all. Henry is winding up a plastic orange fish. Sometimes he allows Isaac to play with it.
Henry wants me to make cookies, so I asked him to read me the recipe. "I can't read cursive," he said. I decided I was going to eat one Milky Way that I bought last night at Target, but I see the entire bag has been consumed.
The pool will likely be closed tonight due to low temps or too few people there, so I'm taking whoever wants to go over there this afternoon. I'll be the one sitting in the chair with pants and coat. Now Isaac is opening up the windows and yelling at Noah to go to the pool. Tonight is Henry's jr high open house/backpack night, which is causing Isaac anxiety. Why? Because he wants Henry to be at the pool tonight at 7:00, even though it's probably going to be closed.
Henry is typing on the computer, using a text-to-speech website. The computerized voice is saying, "Can you get Henry's swim trunks?" and Isaac is yelling, "No!" Now Henry is typing, "Mom, I want to make Grandma's Christmas cookies today." Isaac is saying, "No, Henry pool!"
Noah just came inside, looked at me, smiled, and said, "Lord help us all."
