2. You know you have a questionable haircut when your family members say these things:
"Do you think this haircut is going to work for you?"
"Oh my God! It's really short."
"Mom, haircut."
3. I love my family.
4. I visited my cousin earlier this month in Washington. My favorite parts of the trip were hiking at Cape Disappointment State Park, eating seafood and Thai food, spending time on the beach near the North Pacific Ocean, and dodging the rain. We've never really spent a lot of time together, but the conversation was easy and comfortable. Our moms are identical twins, so our DNA says we are half sisters. I loved being with her. The trip was good for my soul.
5. I didn't make any pies for Thanksgiving, but I made pumpkin bars because that's what Henry requested. They are dang good with the cream cheese frosting. The frosting is so good that it can make grown men weep.
6. I like editing. It's much easier for me than writing.
7. Isn't it amazing how physically close you can get to a complete stranger on a flight? I was sitting in the middle seat, and my thighs and butt were touching the guy to my right. He had long fingernails and watched a reality show about racing while we were in the air. (Help!) He fell asleep before beverage service, and the flight attendant asked me what he wanted. "He's a complete stranger," I said. It probably looked like we were married because we were sitting so close to each other, but that was only because we had no room.
8. I've been seeing hawks almost every day. I try to take pictures of them, but it's not always possible. One day while I was walking, I saw a hawk fly across the golf course right towards me before he nestled into a tree. I looked up what it means spiritually when you see a hawk. I mean, why not, right?
My sources said, "If you see a hawk, you may be highly imaginative or have great ideas that should be acted on. Hawks represent independence, freedom, intellect, self-determination, and purpose. They represent the power of focus, determination, and confidence in the process of creation. Hawks are intelligent and represent the power of divine sight, seeing opportunities and futures that most others can't see.
It feels like a message for me.
9. We listen to a lot of country music in this house. Some clever lyrics of note:
I tell myself that I should quit, but I don't listen to drunks.
After all this back and forth, a fifth won't do.
10. I love my friends. I'm grateful for you. You know who you are.
