I have packed other things in the past (leftover pizza, grapes, a turkey sandwich, etc) and he won't eat them at school. When he comes home, he says, "Home!" and looks at me like I've lost my mind. Those are not things he eats at school apparently.
Isaac's teacher this year wondered if he could order a free lunch every day and eat whatever appealed to him. That was fine with us. I think many days now he eats two lunches! He never says.
Just like a lot of things in his life, he doesn't communicate about it. He won't mention it, and if he does, it's only because someone has bombarded him with ten million questions and even then, sometimes his reporting isn't always accurate.
Last night at the dinner table he said, "Walking tacos. Tuesday!" I knew that wasn't on our menu at home. I asked if he would be eating walking tacos for lunch at school. He said yes.
Again, communicating about something like this *rarely* happens, but he likes food, so I guess that was a good topic to talk about.
It's really difficult to know what is happening in his life. I wasn't sure if this was his Tuesday lunch dream, or if it might be reality.
This morning I contacted a staff member at school to ask about the lunch menu.
Guess what Isaac is eating for lunch today? He's eating the lunch he packed and a walking taco. Hold the lettuce.
