Our family attended a party Sunday afternoon for our dear friend Mike, now a retired pilot. Sunday morning I asked the boys to sign the card. What does Isaac do every Sunday? You can see he wrote his name, followed by "YMCA." It looks like the first letter was a "Y" that made a wrong turn. If he had to miss his time at the YMCA, the card would be a forever reminder. Thank you, Mike, for scheduling your party at a time when Isaac could attend. He had a lot of fun.

Mike read his card out loud to me when he opened it. When I heard him say "YMCA" it warmed my heart. I told Mike the importance of the YMCA to Isaac. Thanks for coming. It was fun to see the whole family.

I am so glad to meet you! I am a Chicken Soup contributor as well, love to write, and love your posts! Your boy is adorable!! I wrote a true story about raising a child with autism, ups and downs, miracles and heartaches...you can see her figure skate at the site for the book above and like you I am a constant advocate for those with autism...they can find a real "life" just like anyone else, especially with wonderful parents like you who support and advocate for them. If you haven't seen it yet, there is a great site called "My Autism Team" for parents to find support and help and to meet parents who live a life with autism in the mix!

Thanks, Lauri, for your nice comments! I follow My Autism Team on Twitter, but I should look for the website as well. Your daughter is beautiful and looks like quite an accomplished skater! Thanks for reading!
